11 Hudson Valley Breweries Giving Out Free Pints This Saturday

Almost a dozen local breweries will be handing out free pints of beer this Saturday in an effort to promote clean water.

Riverkeeper's 6th Annual day of service for the Hudson River returns this Saturday. The organization is encouraging local residents to help clean up the shoreline of the river at over 90 different sites.

According to Sarah Womer from Riverkeeper, last year's sweep was attended by over 2,200 volunteers who picked up over 48 tons of debris. In the past five years, the annual day of service has removed a whopping 164 tons of trash from the Hudson River area.

Those who wish to volunteer can look forward to another special bonus: free beer. There are 11 area breweries that will be hosting meetups after the sweep to reward volunteers with a free pint of beer. The breweries include The Guilded Otter in New Paltz, Hudson Valley Brewery in New Paltz, Keegan Ales in Kingston, Mill House in Poughkeepsie, Newburgh Brewing, North River Hops and Brewing in Wappingers Falls, Plan Bee Farm Brewery in Poughkeepsie, P&G's in New Paltz, Suarez Family Brewery in Hudson and Two-Way Brewing in Beacon.

And if cider is more your thing, Angry Orchard in Walden will also be hosting a meetup with complementary cider.
