Have you ever played with a Rubik's cube? Have you ever been able to solve one? Or does it sit there on your counter, staring back at you, scrambled?

Where did these things come from anyway? According to Rubiks.com, what we know as the Rubik's Cube is a 3-D combination puzzle invented in 1974 by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Ernő Rubik. He originally called the Magic Cube.

So does it make you wonder how a 14-year-old kid from Maryland, can not only solve the puzzle, but do it in record-breaking time?  Lucas Etter was able to solve the puzzle in just under five seconds Saturday at the River Hill Fall 2015 competition in Clarksville, Maryland.  His time beat the previous record of five-point-two seconds.  Not only that, but Etter's record is the first official solve to come in under five seconds.
