Winter may really be coming. As of now, the forecast for the weekend shows the Hudson Valley will get hit with the the first major winter snowstorm of 2016.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for the Hudson Valley, as well as other parts of the Tri-State area. A hazardous outlook is a caution for upcoming weather that may reach national warning levels. There is a chance for a major winter snowstorm late Friday through Saturday night.

It’s still early, but Accurweather says there’s close to a 50 percent chance of snow Friday night. The chances increase to near 80 percent Saturday morning and evening. Some 8-12 inches of snow is being projected.

According to Hudson Valley Weather, it’s still too early to fully tell if we will get hit with a major storm. Some models show the local area inside the center of the storm while others don't. As in the past, long-range weather systems often change. However five days out, Hudson Valley Weather’s models are showing a significant snowfall for the weekend.
