A couple from Dutchess County are accused of stealing close to $1,500 worth of merchandise from a local supermarket.

On Oct. 12, New York State Police from Rhinebeck responded to a shoplifting complaint at Tops Supermarket in Rhinebeck. An investigation revealed that 31-year-old Justin J. Parker of Poughkeepsie stole around $1,000 worth of merchandise, police say.

Kimbery Bland, 27, of Poughkeepsie is accused of stealing over $580 worth of razors, shaving cream and over the counter medication from the store.

Both were charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor. During the arrest processing, Parker and Brand allegedly supplied officials with fake names, in an attempt to hide their true identity. As a result, arrest documents were created in the names of Sean Gillen and Jenna Brezovsky, police say.

Several days later, authorities learned that Brand and Parker were lodged in Dutchess County Jail for an unrelated matter. Troopers responded to the Dutchess County Jail and charged Parker and Brand with petit larceny and offering a false instrument for filing, felonies.

Both subjects are scheduled to appear in the Town of Rhinebeck Court at a later date.
