Two Hudson Valley women were arrested over allegations they stole over $30,000 in combined welfare fraud.

Jeannine McCullough of East Kingston was charged with welfare fraud, grand larceny and two-counts of offering a false instrument for filing.

An investigation conducted by the Ulster County Department of Social Services Special Investigation Unit, in conjunction with the Office of the Ulster County District Attorney, alleges that McCullough failed to report income from November 2015 through August 2017.

McCullough received $2,863 in SNAP benefits and $28,013 in Medicaid benefits that she was not entitled to, officials say.

Gina Marie Ludica of Highland is accused of not reporting income for 13 months. This allegedly resulted in her receiving $2,780 in SNAP benefits.

Ludica was charged with welfare fraud and four-counts of offering a false instrument for filing.

“By stopping welfare fraud and abuse, we can make sure that benefits are available for those who truly need them while also protecting our taxpayers,” Ulster County Executive Mike Hein said in a press release. “Ulster County residents can assist us in reporting any suspicions of such fraud or abuse to the Special Investigations Unit by using the hotline 1-855-SIU-TIPS or 1-855-748-8477.”
