A Hudson Valley man lost his life in a motorcycle accident. Another man was killed in a UTV. Many others were injured.

On Saturday around 1:45 p.m., New York State Police investigated a car vs motorcycle fatal accident on State Route 145 at the intersection of Lincoln Drive in the town of Cairo.

According to police, a 2018 Subaru driven by 79-year-old Chrisine Cepale from Windham crossed State Route 145 directly into the path of a 1988 Kawasaki Motorcycle being operated by 55-year-old Kevin Sweeney of Catskill.

The motorcycle struck the car in the front passenger side causing Sweeney to be ejected. Sweeney died from his injuries before he was loaded into an emergency helicopter.

Cepale and her husband, Robert Cepale, 85, were transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released. The investigation is ongoing.

Around 5:40 p.m., State Police investigated a UTV accident that occurred on Brand Hollow Rd in the town of Durham.

Scott Colleran, 51, of Lindenhurst failed to negotiate a curve while driving a Polaris UTV and hit a tree, killing the front passenger, 53-year-old Jeff Kuhn of East Northport, police say.

Colleran and another passenger were treated at Columbia Memorial Hospital for undisclosed injuries.

The investigation is continuing and charges are pending, police say.
