Over 800 WRRV listeners braved the snow this Saturday night to venture out to the Mid Hudson Civic Center and judge the very best chicken wings in the Hudson Valley.

Wing Wars 2015 brought some stiff competition from some of the best restaurants in our area. WRRV listeners lined up to sample the wings and put in their vote for the very best. Besides the people's choice award, there were 4 official judges who handed out awards in several categories.

The judges included Townsquare Media's Chris Morello John Barry from the Poughkeepsie Journal, Associate Professor David Barry from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park and Assistant Professor Scott Swartz, also from the CIA.

When all of the wings had been eaten and all of the judging had been finished, the following awards were presented to the winning restaurants:

  • Best garlic based wing: Clancy's Cafe and Creamery
  • Best decorated booth: Buffalo Wild Wings
  • Best habanero wing: Buffalo Wild Wings
  • Best pub wing: The Derby
  • Hottest wing: Daddy O's
  • Best traditional wing: Mahoney's Irish Pub
  • Most unique: Bugaboo Creek
  • Best mild wing: McGillicuddy's
  • Best smoked wing: Mill House Brewing Company
  • People's choice: The Derby
  • Best overall wing: Brothers Barbecue

We'll have plenty of photos and video posted tomorrow, so check back for a full recap of the 2015 Wing Wars!
