A second person has died following a lightning strike at a Poughkeepsie park earlier this month.

The Washington Times reports, a 46-year-old man was pronounced dead early Wednesday morning after he was struck by lightning on Aug. 12, according to Vassar Brothers Medical Center spokesman John Nelson.

The lightning strike happened at Mansion Park in Poughkeepsie. Officials say the 5 victims were gathered together or sitting on or near a bench in the park when severe weather hit.

Three of the victims lost consciousness after the lightning strike. CPR was performed at the scene and the three were transported to Vassar Brothers Hospital in life-threatening condition.

A 50-year-old man died hours after the strike.

Two others were taken to Mid-Hudson Regional hospital.

Witnesses told police they saw a bolt of lightning strike where the group was sitting.

Authorities haven’t released the victims’ names.
