On Wednesday, May 30, 2018, a 3 alarm fire burned in the City of Newburgh.

A 3 alarm fire destroyed property in the City of Newburgh on Wednesday. According to Patch, the property may have been a lumber yard. The address of the fire was 23-29 Carpenter Avenue, which is off of Broadway near the Newburgh City Court.

This video was taken by Rick LoCicero, a Lieutenant in the City of Newburgh Fire Department. It shows the blaze engulfing the property. According to Patch, the firefighters saw heavy fire throughout the property. They also report that firefighters had to deal with low water pressure.

A City of Newburgh firefighter suffered a minor burn injury, according to Ahlers. No fatalities occurred.  City of Newburgh Acting Fire Chief, Terry Ahlers, said there was heat damage to a vacant garage, storage shed, and a 3-story apartment building that were off the property of the fire.

All City of Newburgh ladder trucks and engine companies were at the scene. Approximately 80 firefighters were present from Newburgh. For the second alarm, the Airguard Engine Company responded and a West Point Ladder truck was used. For the third alarm, Cronomer Valley, Goodwill Fire Department, and Castle Point Veterans Hospital Fire Department all responded. The Beacon Fire Department and Coldenham Fire Department were both on standby.

Ahlers said the cause of the fire is currently under investigation by both the City of Newburgh Fire Department and City of Newburgh Police Department.
