Local ninjas can get free LEGO bricks and more at several stores throughout the Hudson Valley this weekend.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie hits the big screen on Friday and local stores are hosting special events to help promote the film.

For those who aren't familiar with Ninjago, the movie is based on the popular kids television show which follows young LEGO ninjas as they battle evil enemies, like the four-armed Lord Garmadon. And, of course, there are plenty of LEGO sets that tie-in with the show that lets kids recreate the adventures in their own home.

Target will be hosting a free Ninjago scavenger hunt at all of their local stores this Saturday, September 23 from 10am to 1pm. Details were vague on the Target website, but we did some research and found out that kids will be able to follow clues around the store which will lead them to the toy aisle where they'll receive a Ninjago comic book and dog tags while supplies last.

Toys R Us will also have a special Ninjago event where kids will get to build and bring home a mini LEGO ninja training temple. All local Toys R Us stores will be participating on Saturday, September 23 from noon to 2pm. Kids who compete their ninja training will also receive a complementary headband while supplies last.

Ninjago fans who are busy with soccer games or other activities this weekend can still get in on the action at Barnes and Noble. Local stores will be hosting a "Make and Take" event on October 7. Kids will be able to build a Ninjago green dragon mini model starting at 4pm and take it home when they are finished.
