I'm excited to be involved in this years Rock The Ridge event this weekend in New Paltz. Rock the Ridge is an annual 50-mile endurance challenge and environmental fundraiser set in the Mohonk Preserve. Entrants will cover 50 miles over the course of a 24 hour period using a combo of walking and running. All funds raised will be donated and used to help protect the environment at Mohonk. Congrats on some great 2013 totals, as more than $100,000 was raised. Here's to an even better 2014!

Here's some great video of last year's event.

About Mohonk Preserve

Located only 90 miles away from New York City, Mohonk Preserve is a focal point for day hikers, bird watchers, runners, mountain bikers, and families looking to enjoy the great outdoors, as well as a world-renowned destination for rock climbers. One of the distinguishing features of the Preserve is its miles of carriage roads,  which are wider, more level, and easier to traverse than typical single-track hiking trails.

A day spent in the Preserve is one that will not soon be forgotten. Among the Preserve’s 8,000 acres of lush land are towering cliffs and eye-popping vistas of the high peaks of New York’s Catskill Mountains, sparkling mountain streams, and the broad expanse of the Hudson Valley. Situated near the town of New Paltz, NY, the Preserve is readily accessible to all parts of New York State and the northeast via regional interstate highways and picturesque state and local roads. Mohonk Preserve is New York State's largest member and visitor-supported nature preserve, and welcomes over 150,000 visitors per year.
