The Children's Home of Poughkeepsie will participate in the 3rd annual Hudson Valley Gives Day on Wednesday May 16th. According to their Facebook page, Hudson Valley Gives is a day of giving fueled by passion, collaboration and the power of social media. You can think of it as a type of digital telethon that benefits hundreds of much-deserving nonprofits in our area.

They are asking for our local community help in reaching their goal of $5,000 and 100 donors in support of Ivy's Fund. Studies have shown that service dogs can have a tremendous positive effect on the person they are assigned to. They can act as a coming presence to someone who may have a mental disability helping them build trust and social skills.

Get ready to give! On May 16, starting at 12:00 am midnight, visit www.hvgives.org and make a donation to them and/or to any of the great participating nonprofit organizations in our state. You will have 24 hours to make your donation, and all giving will end at 11:59 pm on May 16.
