Announced this morning (1/14/2016) that Alan Rickman passed away at the age of 69 after a long battle with cancer. Having acted in over 60 movies, he will probably be most remembered for his work in the Harry Potter series.

Take this as an opportunity to revisit some of his other movies that might have been overlooked by the critics (but not the fans).

  • Bottle Shock, from 2008, where he played Steven Spurrier, the man who brought California wines to the attention of the world.
*Perfume, The Story of a Murdered, from 2007, he played Richis, a father in agony over losing his daughter
*Love Actually, 2003, where he played Harry
*Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, 1991, if you can get past Kevin Cosner being in the  movie, Rickman gives a superb performance as the Sheriff George of Nottingham
*Die Hard, 1988, also featuring Bruce Willis, where Rickman plays Hans Gruber.

So, if you are looking for movies other than the Harry Potter series to watch this weekend, search around for these and pay tribute to the large body of work from this amazing actor.
