At least six people are dead after a Metro-North commuter train struck a vehicle today.

The crash happened about 6:30 p.m. near the Commerce Street crossing in Valhalla. The train reportedly crashed into the Jeep, causing an explosion that set the automobile and the train ablaze.

The outbound train left Grand Central Terminal at 5:45 p.m. As of now, service on the Harlem Line is suspended between North White Plains and Pleasantville until further notice.

In addition to this accident, there was also an unrelated head-on crash on the Taconic State Parkway this afternoon. The parkway is currently closed to northbound and southbound traffic and will continue to be as rescue crews respond to both accidents.
