8 Dutchess County Residents Lose Home After Fire
Eight people were displaced following a fire at their Dutchess County home.
On Tuesday around 10:35 p.m., the Arlington Fire District was dispatched to Spackenkill Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie for a second-alarm fire on the second floor of the single family home.
Eight people were on the first floor of the home at the time of the fire. After smelling smoke they were able to safely get out of their home, prior to firefighters arrival. No one was injured and two cats were also unharmed, officials say.
However, all eight were displaced as a result of the fire and are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.
The fire was investigated by the Arlington Fire District Fire Investigation Division and determined to be accidental, caused by failure of electrical distribution equipment.
Assisting at the scene were the New Hamburg Fire District, Mobile Life Support Services, Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department, Town of Poughkeepsie Building Department, Dutchess County Dept. of Emergency Response, and Central Hudson Gas & Electric. The New Hackensack Fire District, Pleasant Valley Fire District, and Village of Wappingers Falls Fire Department relocated equipment to the Arlington Fire District for standby coverage.
