A mother is charged after police find her 2-year-old son walking the streets of a local town all alone.

The Daily Freeman reports that Alyssa L. Montalvo was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child after residents reported the toddler to 911 operators. Citizens were calling the emergency number after they witnessed the young boy walking all alone on an undisclosed road in Saugerties.

The 23-year-old mother reportedly appeared just when police arrived at the scene. Authorities say Montalvo was  across the street, 250 feet away from the child when they pulled up. That's when police say they charged the woman. Montalvo was released and given a ticket to appear in Saugerties court at a later date.

We want to know what you think. Should the mother be charged for leaving her child unattended, or do you think it could have been an honest mistake?
