A Popular Ulster County Restaurant Is Closing For Good

Bad news for foodies in Ulster County this week. New World Home Cooking, which has been in the area for 25 years, has announced that it will be closing for good on April 7, according to the Daily Freeman.

Ric Orlando, the restaurant's owner, did not give a reason for why it was shutting down, only telling the Freeman that, "All good things must come to an end." He will continue to work as a chef and consultant as New World Bistro Bar in Albany, and is pursuing several different creative projects, according to the article. Those include a cookbook and memoir, and a podcast called "One Million String Beans."

New World Home Cooking has been in the area since 1993, and has been at its location on Route 212 in Saugerties since 1998, the article noted. Its loss leaves a pretty big hole in the Ulster County restaurant scene, but as Orlando made sure to tell the Daily Freeman, 25 years is a "remarkable run for an independent restaurant."
