A Senior Prom Starting at Noon?

Yup, you read that right. This is not your regular prom for High School Students though, it's presented by The Dutchess County Office for the Aging. This year will be the organizations 22nd annual Senior Prom.

For the past two decades this event has been a highlight for the senior population of Dutchess County. I think this is a fantastic idea, it's almost better than the idea someone had to put a day care center in a retirement home.

When I think about what it means to be a senior citizen I think about how they earned a rest. Getting through life is almost always a challenge. By the time you've reached your 65th revolution around the sun you deserve a reward. Most people spend those prior years setting up a future for the next generation. When the time comes, the new generation should appreciate those who trail blazed the path ahead of us.
