Accused ATV Thief Charged

Robert J. Sauers III, 31, of Mt. Marion was sent to Ulster County Jail on Friday several hours after allegedly stealing an ATV from a Saugerties resident. The victim called authorities to report that Sauers stole his ATV on Friday morning.

Shortly after Saugerties police responded to the complaint, Sauers was spotted riding the ATV in the Town of Ulster.  Police gave chase and say Sauers eluded them. Later that day, the accused thief was taken into custody at his Country Club Road home by Saugerties Police and charged with felony grand larceny in the third degree.

Sauers was arraigned in Saugerties Justice Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail on a bail of $10,000 cash or bond of $20,000.
