The Alabama Shakes have the number one album in the country with their new release Sound & Color. Hudson Valley residents will have a chance to catch them locally this summer.

Billboard reports 96,000 album units were sold in it's first week. Remember when albums were called CD's or records? Now it's 'album units'. The new terminology is necesary because the new school charts take into consideration a few new factors:

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).

It was the band's best sales week ever, having only peaked at #6 with their 2012 release Boys & Girls. Their first album experienced a slow build, reaching it's highest position on the chart almost a year after it was initially available.
