As officials continue their efforts to put out the wildfire at Sam's Point Preserve, New York State Police helicopters have been actively dropping water on the flames.

There are some reports that as of Thursday morning that the fire is now 60% contained. However, as of this writing, the last confirmed report from the DEC says the fire is 35% contained

Officials say Tuesday's rainy conditions helped firefighters battle the flames. The fire has decreased and is currently smoldering.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo deployed over 70 additional state personnel to help combat the wildfire. Over 110 state emergency personnel were dedicated to the fire. On Tuesday, 7 Dutchess County fire departments deployed resources to assist with the massive wildfire.

The DEC is reminding residents that due to warming temperatures and drying conditions residential brush burning is prohibited through May 14.
