You know Newburgh Brewing as the home of WRRV Sessions (where you might have seen bands like Coheed and Cambria, New Politics, X-Ambassadors, PVRIS, and more), and just generally being a great place to hang out to have a delicious, locally crafted beer, but you might not know how unique their approach to brewing actually is.

What I love about craft beer--and don't get me wrong, in no way am I the type of person who is all craft, all the time; I've been known to enjoy beer of all kinds--is that they're able to try some new things and take some chances that other breweries might not be able to. When you think of the major, iconic, well-known American beer companies, you have certain expectations, you know what you're getting, and you want it to taste a certain way. Say what you will about "macro" breweries, but they have a very defined role and a lot of expectations on them and they have to meet those expectations every time.

That's where craft beer is able to come in and fill in some of that experimental vacancy. Craft breweries can brew different twists and different approaches to styles you might already know--or come up with something completely new and different and all their own. The folks at Newburgh not only do this, but they try to make sure that they keep their feet planted in a local way, using interesting, fresh, local ingredients whenever possible.

Take a listen to Paul and Chris below as we talk about some of the things that set them, and craft beer as a whole, apart.
