A community remains in shock following an apparent murder-suicide of a Hudson Valley married couple.

Just after 7:00 a.m. Thursday, Ramapo police officers responded to a 911 call where a man said he shot and killed his wife. Moments after officers arrived at 2 Deerwood Road in the Village of Wesley Hills, gun shots were heard.

According to Ramapo Police, as officers arrived they heard the caller, 65-year-old John Lord, shoot himself near the couples back deck. 63-year-old Irene Lord was found dead inside the home of an apparent gunshot wound. Police believe John killed his wife before shooting himself.

John was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern where he died from his injuries. Authorities confirmed that the deceased parties are husband and wife.

The incident is still under investigation.
