Apple is recalling some MacBook charger cables because of a design flaw. The company says on its website that a "limited number" of USB-C charge cables included with the laptop through June of last year could fail.

Apple doesn't officially say what the design flaw is, online chatter says that there is a risk of electric shock, only that the cables might not charge the laptop or it might charge only intermittently. The problem cables are stamped with "Designed by Apple in California. Assembled in China." They were originally shipped with Apple products from 2005-2015 and are the ones that would be used outside of the United States. Think more Europe, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, New Zealand, and South Korea. However if you are a traveler and purchased the Apple World Traveler Adapter Kit, you might have an affected cable.

If you find that you have one of the cables, Apple is replacing the affected cable with a new, redesigned version at no charge.
