A duo who were dubbed by Sullivan County Sheriff’s deputies as a 'two person crime wave' were arrested Thursday. Deputies say 27 year-old Christopher Gonzales and 54 year-old Shelly Somerville admitted to stealing money and cigarettes from at least four different businesses earlier this year.

The pair, who are boyfriend and girlfriend, had an interesting excuse as to why they couldn’t recall their entire alleged burglary spree.

Too much crack cocaine.

The Times Herald Record says that at approximately 1 a.m. on Thursday, deputies responded to the Sonny’s Mobil Mart in the Town of Thompson. The store’s owner told authorities that cigarettes and cash had been stolen. Police were able to locate the couple at their home in Monticello after identifying them and their getaway vehicle through the store’s video surveillance system.

The sheriff’s office says that Gonzales and Somerville admitted to deputies they broke into the gas station twice. The alleged break in's happened in June and again on Thursday.

Deputies also say the couple stole from numerous other businesses in the vicinity, including gas stations and liquor stores.

The Monticello Police Department is investigating those cases, according to the sheriff’s office. Gonzales and Somerville are facing third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal mischief and third-degree grand larceny charges - all felonies - according to the sheriff’s office.
