Workers at three popular Hudson Valley businesses were arrested during an underage drinking sting conducted by the State Police.

According to Mid Hudson News, State Police stationed at the Rhinebeck barracks conducted an undercover operation using plainclothes investigators and a 20-year-old volunteer.

Police say the underage volunteer was able to purchase alcohol illegally at three local businesses; the Hess Express in Poughkeepsie, Bourbon Street Wine and Liquor in Hyde Park and Deerview Deli in Staatsburg.

The businesses could face fines and other actions by the New York State Liquor Authority and the employees were all arrested by police and charged with unlawful dealing with a minor, a misdemeanor.

This is not the first time this has happened in our area. Just three months ago, seven other hudson valley businesses saw their employees charged with selling alcohol to minors. And back in January three more businesses were charged.

State Police continue to conduct sting operations, and will presumably continue until businesses learn to card their customers.
