An art show this weekend aims to support the revitalization of Poughkeepsie's skate park. 'Art 4 Skate' will take place Friday night at Poughkeepsie Grind on Main Street starting at 7pm.

Local officials declared the Waryas Park location to be unsafe just this past summer after several of the obstacles wore out and were declared unsafe. A short time after the closure, the 'Save Poughkeepsie's Skatepark' effort began with a series of fundraisers and activities aimed at restoring the damages. Funds have been raised, but there is still a long way to go to get money needed to make the necessary repairs.

The proceeds from the silent art auction will all go to the restoration effort. Dozens of local artists will have their work on display until around 11pm Friday night. According to City of Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison, it will take around $18,000 to repair the damages.
