Wasting less energy and keeping more of your hard-earned money in your pocket is a great idea. Whether you're a homeowner looking to be more energy efficient or a business trying to save costs, or even a municipality wanting to keep down their costs and usage, we all win.  But, where do you start and who can you talk to?

The City of Beacon took a big step today in helping to lead the way by highlighting the Energize NY Finance Program. Energize NY is a community-based energy efficiency program operating within the Energy Improvement Corp (EIC), a New York State local development corporation, whose mission is to provide energy efficiency and renewable energy benefits to New York property owners to help save money and reduce energy waste in their buildings.

According to the Hudson Valley News Network, Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro and City of Beacon Mayor Randy Casale joined with other elected officials and business leaders to announce that Energize NY services are immediately available to help commercial building owners and not-for-profits in Dutchess County to make clean-energy improvements.

Improvements such as efficient lighting, heating, and cooling systems; insulation and air sealing; smart controls; as well as renewable energy installations such as solar electric, biomass and geothermal, can all go a long way in being energy efficient as well as saving money.
