The Hudson Valley will be Feeling the Bern. Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders is coming to Poughkeepsie with a special guest.

The Vermont Senator’s campaigned announced Sanders will hold a rally at Marist College on Tuesday at 7 p.m., at the McCann Arena.

Michael Stipe, the lead singer of R.E.M., will join Sanders at the rally in Dutchess County.

Tickets are not required. The event is free and open to the public. However RSVPs are strongly encouraged. You can RSVP by clicking the link above.

Admission is first come, first serve. Doors will open at 4 p.m.

For security reasons, everyone is told to not bring bags and limit what you bring to small items, such as keys and cell phones. Weapons, sharp objects, signs, or banners on sticks will not be allowed past security.

Limited parking is available. Carpooling is encouraged.

Sanders is the first presidential hopeful to stop in the Dutchess County ahead of New York State's Presidential Primary. Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro recently invited all the candidates to the local area. 

In the most recent McClatchy-Marist poll, the Sanders led rival Hillary Clinton  by two points, 49% to 47%, in a poll conducted March 29 through March 31.

The poll is the latest sign of Sander’s momentum. In previous national Marist poll, from Nov. 2015, Clinton led Sanders by 22 points.
