Better Than The Original: Ice Nine Kills Covers Maroon 5

Full disclosure: I'm a big time Ice Nine Kills fan. Have been for years, since I heard their song "People Under The Stairs."

They're a metal-core band that has a clean singer and a screamer. They're a bit on the gore side of the genre, with an appreciation for the darker sides of society. They have their moments of social condemnation, which are awesome, and they have videos that are far deeper than most that have come through the genre in awhile.

Regardless, I dig the band. They appeal to those moments of the day when you want something intensely creative, but would still like to dabble in the darker side of life. The guitar. My GOODNESS the guitar. Really fantastic.

Anyways, INK took part in this years Punk Goes Pop album from Fearless Records, and they KILLED IT. Pun intended. Maroon 5's "Animal" has always had a fairly creepy vibe to it in my opinion, and Ice Nine Kills took it and ran with it. The emphasis on turning certain lyrics into screams, the video, it all works PERFECTLY.

Is Ice Nine Kills version of "Animal" better than the original? 100%.
