Black Bass Season Now in Full Gear for New York

Good news fishing people! Black Bass season (large mouth and small mouth) is officially here (as of June 18, 2016). Where if you had caught bass before this date, you had to release them, but now during 'the season' you will be able to keep up to five bass with a minimum length of 12 inches on most waters.

Here is what the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos had to say about fishing in the State of New York:

"New York State is home to some of the world's best fishing destinations, especially for bass. Every year, hundreds of thousands of visitors, as well as major tournaments, flock to our waters for the unparalleled experience of catching a bass in New York State. Whether you are at a small pond hidden in a State Park, fishing offshore in Lake Erie, or somewhere else entirely, I encourage all anglers to give bass fishing in New York their one and only stop for fishing this summer."

Reminder, before you head out to go fishing, anyone over the age of 16 will need a fishing license. Each license is good for 365 days from the date of purchase.
