The upcoming blood drive at the Italian Community Center in Poughkeepsie will of course help to replenish blood supplies in the Hudson Valley. But, this drive will also commemorate the life of one of Poughkeepsie's finest.

The Journal reports the Poughkeepsie Police and Fraternal Order of Police will be hosting this blood drive in the memory of Detective John Falcone. Donations will be accepted at the community center from 1-7pm on Monday, Feb. 23. Blood donations of all types are needed and will be accepted.

Detective Falcone was an 18-year veteran of the Poughkeepsie Police department and was killed in the line of duty.
