The City of Port Jervis Police Department responded to an abandoned vehicle on Sunday afternoon due to a note attach to the outside of the car that said a bomb was inside the automobile.

According to Port Jervis Police, the vehicle was parked at the intersection of Pike and Hammond Streets and was detected just after 3PM on Sunday.  New York State Police as well as the Port Jervis City Fire Department, and the Port Jervis Ambulance Squad cleared the area immediately while the NYSP Explosives Detection Canine made a search of the car and the surrounding area.  No bombs or explosives were found and the area was cleared just before 5PM.
