Just days after returning from the holiday break, thousands of Hudson Valley students may be getting another day off from school.

Meteorologists are following a snowstorm that could hit our area from Wednesday evening through Thursday. Accumulations could be enough to delay or cancel school thanks to bombogenesis.

The Weather Channel predicts that bombogenesis will take place on the East Coast later in the week, which is a signal that we could be in for a big storm. Bombogenesis is the rapid decrease in atmospheric pressure within a 24-hour period. This, paired with precipitation heading up the coast, could potentially close schools and cause plenty of traffic headaches.

Right now it's too soon to be certain, but if conditions are right, the Hudson Valley could be in for some significant snowfall from Wednesday through Thursday. As we get closer to the end of the week, we will keep you posted on any developments.

Of course, if there are any snow closings or delays we will have all of them available right here on our website.
