Listen, in order to do radio--or at least a reasonable facsimile of good radio--you need to be able to speak about pretty much anything for exorbitant lengths of time. You never know what topics will pop up, you never know how much time you'll need to fill, you never know when something goes wrong and you just need to talk.

Fortunately, I don't have much of a problem with that. I'm kind of like a faucet. When I'm talking it just goes. When it's off, it's off. There's really no middle ground, there's no trickling here and there. I'm either speaking for four straight hours or I'm saying absolutely nothing.

It works well with radio, but it also leads to possibly missing out on your surroundings and important information that you could really use because you were too busy talking nonstop. Ask all of the teachers I've ever had about that.
