The Times Herald Record is reporting that Mayor Gordon Jenkins and Monticello Building Inspector James Snowden were arrested Thursday morning.  The Record states that the charges include bribery, endangering the public health and several other felonies and misdemeanors relating to the demolition of the village court.

Jenkins was quoted by The Record as classifying the charges as "racial" and saying "We need a federal investigation... It's a sad day in Monticello".  Bail has been set for both at $10,000.

It's been a rough week for the Mayor.  Jenkins also plead guilty on Wednesday night to drunk driving charges in Fallsburg court. The Record reports that he is scheduled to be sentenced on those charges October 29. He will most likely be put on probation.
