We here in the Hudson Valley are lucky to have such a vibrant craft beer scene, and not only is the beer we have excellent, we're lucky enough to be close to some other incredible breweries like Brooklyn Brewery.

It's become something of a tradition for me to visit the Brooklyn brewery at the beginning of winter, and their Winter Ale is one of the main attractions.

Brooklyn Winter Ale, rooted in a Scottish ale style, has a nice bready quality to it, but the flavor that sticks with me the most is similar to a caramel apple. And at 6.1% ABV, it's got just enough alcohol in it to ride the line between sessionable and winter warming. Nice and malty with fruity, earthy hops. This is one of my favorite beers from Brooklyn.
