Bye Bye Old Lightbulbs! You will be missed!!
Are you like me and love to flip the light switch and have your light turn on immediately? and not have your light bulb “warm up”? Say good-bye to light bulb love.
As of Jan 1, 2014, 40 watt and 60 watt incandescent bulbs will slowly start to fade away from store shelves around the US, just like the 75 and 100 watt bulbs already have.
Yes, in my heart, I know that the old incandescent bulbs are super inefficient — only about 10 percent of their energy output is converted into light; the rest is lost to heat.
The initial cost of the new replacement LED bulb is a bit pricey, and supposedly will be worth the investment in the long run, because of “all the money I will be saving” by not having to replace the light bulbs as often….
I know that I will make the steps to convert to the newer LED bulbs as soon as my secret stash of bulbs down in the basement runs out… but I will make sure to go over this chart, which breaks down how to decode the new bulbs, so it makes sense to die-hards like myself, giving us the information to make us understand what we are actually buying.
