He died doing what he loved and will now be honored.

Captain Jack Rose, 19, from Saugerties passed away back in December of 2015, shortly after he helped fight a chimney fire at a residence in the Mount Marion fire district. The fire was later determined to be accidental.

Captain Roses name has officially been added to the New York State Fallen Firefighters Memorial which is located at the Empire State Plaza in Albany.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday that Rose was one of eight names added to the memorial. The memorial was set up to honor individuals who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The announcement came at the 19th Annual Fallen Firefighters Memorial Ceremony and after the addition of the eight names on Tuesday, the memorial now names 2,406 people who have passed in the line of duty.

If you would like to check out the New York State Firefighters Memorial it is on the northeast side of the Empire State Plaza.
