Celebrate George Washington’s Birthday in Newburgh
Washington's Headquarters State Historic Site in Newburgh will once again be celebrating George Washington's Birthday this weekend, Feb. 17 - 19 from noon - 4 pm each day at the site on the corner of Liberty and Washington Streets in Newburgh.
There will be music, military demonstrations, crafts for kids and adults, and historical presentations. All three days the General will be greeting visitors in his office and balladeer Thad McGregor will be offering musical entertainment in the dining room. On the grounds, reenactors will be performing military drills. Lectures and talks are scheduled throughout the weekend, and the museum building will host crafts for visitors of all ages. On Sunday, learn about George Washington’s health while residing in this area. On Monday, a re-enactor will share her insights into portraying Martha Washington.
