A syndicated TV show host, author and celebrity chef is opening up her Mid Hudson Valley home to the public.

Known as the Queen of Spices, Nirmala Narine has gained notoriety in the culinary world for her use of exotic spices from around the world. As host of "Nirmala's Spice World" she shows viewers how ancient spices from different cultures transform food into unique flavors and experiences.

In addition to hosting her television series, Nirmala has also published several books including "In Nirmala’s Kitchen: Everyday World Cuisine," "Nirmala’s Edible Diaries" and "Ellishiva Cinnamon and The Sixth Element."

Now the Epoch Times is reporting that Nirmala has opened up a shop on her property in Highland. The chef lives at a Hudson Valley home that used to be a working dairy and rodeo farm during the 19th century.  The buildings have been beautifully restored and now feature a shop that is open to the public where fans can purchase exotic and locally grown spices.

If you'd like to plan a visit, Nirmala's store is open every weekend, Friday to Sunday, from Noon to 5pm. It's located at 690 New Paltz Road in Highland. Just look for the small painted sign that says "Nirmala" out front.
