Reports are coming out that Constantine, the NBC show, won't have a season 1 beyond 13 episodes, but MIGHT get renewed for season 2.

I love the Hellblazer comic. I love Constantine the movie. The TV show, however, I find more than a bit hokey. The characters are hollow, the dialogue is forced and the story choices are so goofy it almost can't be believed.

The latest episode? A model was murdered, and brought back from the grave so her killer could apologize. Instead of meekly sinking back into the grave, she starts killing people who don't answer her question of "Do you think I'm pretty?" correctly. When Constantine's sidekick asked her questions back, flummoxing her momentarily because ghosts can be confused, she comes back at him by ripping her paper mask off and saying "Do you think I'm pretty NOW?!?!?!?". At which point, I actually laughed out loud.

That's not the reaction you should have.

I recently wrote about how terrible I found the show "Scorpion". It's flat and forced. There's nothing natural about the characters or the story. That's exactly how I feel about Constantine.
