Could Hurricane Patricia Bring Rain to the Hudson Valley Next Week?

Hurricane Patricia, with sustained winds of 200 mph, is forecasted to hit Mexico by Friday night. The strongest hurricane ever recorded in the Western Hemisphere could bring catastrophic winds and flooding to the southern coast of Mexico before moving inland. But could this storm actually affect the Hudson Valley and other parts of the Northeastern US by next week?  

Officials say the the remnants of the storm will drift northeast across Mexico to the Texas gulf coast, where it will eventually be picked up by a longwave trough over the center of the country. From there, the remnants could move east through the Tennessee and upper Ohio valleys, and eventually to the Northeast by Tuesday and Wednesday.

National Weather Service forecasters say up to 2 inches of rain could soak the region Tuesday and Wednesday, though they also say it's still too early to tell exactly how much rain, if any, will fall.
