Mourning continues for Hudson Valley resident David Bowie. We're finding out a lot of previously unknown information in the wake of his passing, like that time he shot down Coldplay's request to collaborate.

A few years ago Coldplay frontman Chris Martin wrote Bowie a letter asking for his contribution on a song, he also sent along a copy of the tune. Bowie responded by basically saying the song sucked and he wasn't interested. Martin spoke of the incident at a 2014 awards show, while the story was recently confirmed by drummer Will Champion. Martin had this to say, it appears as if he handles rejection pretty well.:

One time i sent him a song to ask him to sing on it. He called me and said, 'It's not one of your best.' He's got very high standards and I appreciate that. It inspires the rest of us to keep our standards high.

You can catch (or tune out) Coldplay performing at the halftime of the Superbowl on February 7th.
