Bitterly cold weather will contribute to a miserable morning commute for many Hudson Valley drivers.

Those who were lucky enough to have a three-day weekend aren't looking forward to getting out of bed today. And the brutally cold temperatures aren't helping one bit.

Temperatures were down to the single digits throughout the Hudson Valley this morning, leading to snow delays. Many schools planned on opening late today, alerting parents last night that there would be delays. Roads are still icy in many areas, and buses that have been sitting in lots over the long weekend need to be de-iced and started up.

Hudson Valley traffic reporter, Nancy Reamy, says to beware of black ice and slippery conditions around the region. At 6am there were no reported problems, but you can expect volume and slow-moving traffic throughout the morning as people make their way onto the roads.
