Some weather watchers believe a tornado may have touched down in the Hudson Valley on Tuesday. (The National Weather Service hasn't confirmed any tornado activity other than issuing a tornado warning for Ulster and Orange counties Tuesday afternoon.)

Earlier today, the National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for a large part of the Hudson Valley. A tornado warning was issued to Ulster County and expired at 3:30 p.m on Tuesday. The warning stated a storm was passing through that could cause a tornado to develop. Another warning was issued until 4:15PM for Ulster and Orange counties.

A listener named Tod Bretton reported seeing a funnel cloud or possible tornado in the area of Route 31 in Saugerties.

Fox 5 meteorologist Nick Gregory tweeted at 3:43PM that a weather spotter reported a tornado in Sullivan County:

Tornado Warning for Sullican [sic] County until 4 PM. Funnel clouds and a tornado being observed by spotters near Eldred, NY @Fox5NYWeather

In addition to reports of a funnel cloud or tornado being spotted in the Hudson Valley, there was also large hail spotted. Hail was also predicted by the National Weather Service.

A tornado watch still exists in Dutchess, Colombia, and Greene Counties until 8PM.
