Why are so many Hudson Valley residents getting caught masturbating in public?

I can’t believe I’m writing a story like this, but in the past few months a number of local men have been caught pleasuring themselves in public.

For instance, in late May, 22-year-old Jesus Miranda of Highland was arrested after he allegedly exposed himself and masturbated at a Walmart in Orange County.

At the time of his arrest, Miranda informed police that he engaged in the same act in another department store in the Hudson Valley, police say.

It appeared Miranda wasn’t lying.

Less than two weeks after he was accused of pleasuring himself at Walmart, Miranda allegedly used his cell phone to take pictures and video of a woman while she was in the changing room of a department store located in the Town of Monroe.

Just a few days before Miranda’s first arrest, Mark A. Jones of Wallkill was arrested for public lewdness.

On a number of occasions, Jones was accused of approaching women in his car, exposing his genitalia and masturbating. While masturbating, Jones would ask the women if they approved, police say.

One of the alleged offenses occurred in a residential neighborhood another at a gym. Police believe there are more victims.

In late March, witnesses told police that a man was masturbating while driving on the the New York State Thruway in Orange County. John R. Parkyn, 48, of Hewitt, N.J. was arrested for public lewdness and exposure of a person.

In early March, a woman driver allegedly noticed 28-year-old Rudy Esteves of Garnerville pleasuring himself while stopped at a red light on Route 32 in Woodbury.

Back in late Feb., Liam Fitzgerald of Stone Ridge was allegedly spotted masturbating in a parked car in the parking lot of an Ulster County business. The 34-year-old was arrested the next day when he returned to the same unnamed business.

So the question, why are so many local man masturbating in public?
