Do the dog days of summer have you down? Well for some inspiration and humor you can follow a heroic Hudson Valley K-9.

In May, Chase, a K-9 from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, helped locate a lost hiker in the Town of Patterson. At the time, Chase was fresh from training and put into immediate use.

Chase was able to pick up the lost hikers scent from her vehicle and began to track her.

Despite rain, darkness, and an errant black bear, after a 1.13 mile track through the woods, Chase led his handler and New York State Troopers to the lost woman.

The woman was brought back to her car with no reported injuries.

It was a truly incredible heroic first day! The Putnam County Sheriff's Office started a Facebook page to track Chase's heroic and everyday dog moments.

Most recently, Chase was visited by Senator Sue Serino.

When he's not on the job. Chase, like most dogs, enjoys a nice scenic hike in the Hudson Valley!

He also hopes for nice weather so he can go outside and play!

And of course when it's time to sleep, he takes up as much of the bed as he can!

So if the dog days of summer has you down, follow Chase, a true Hudson Valley treasure, on Facebook!
