A woman driving without her seatbelt on the Taconic led to big drug arrest in Dutchess County.

On Monday, New York State Police from Stormville barracks arrested Daniel H. Balmer and Brianna M. Antonawich both 21, from Copiague following a traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway.

Troopers stopped a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu traveling northbound on the Taconic State Parkway when they allegedly observed the driver not wearing a seatbelt.

While interviewing the driver, Balmer, troopers smelled marijuana coming from the car, police say.

As police investigated further, Balmer is accused of possessing cocaine and marijuana. Antonawich possessed marijuana, cocaine, concentrated cannabis and psilocybin mushrooms, officials say.

Antonawich was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, three-counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Balmer was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Both were arraigned in the Town of Pleasant Valley and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,500 bond.
