Drone Falls Out of Sky; Narrowly Misses Clobbering Skier
There's been an awful lot of talk about drones this year. People shooting them out of the sky with shotguns, drones getting in the way of firefighters trying to stop fires in California, the FAA requiring all drones to be registered.
Drones with cameras, drones that detect weather, drones that automatically follow you. It's a huge industry with lots of money in it, and it's not going away any time soon. HOWEVER, I've never seen a drone come this close to completely braining someone, possibly doing SERIOUS harm while falling out of the sky.
Marcel Hirscher is a world class downhill skier, and NARROWLY avoided being completely clobbered by a falling drone while on a run the other day. I can't really imagine the odds of something like this happening again, but that's a little too close for comfort. I would imagine we'll see some rules changing about how close to overhead the drones can fly, from plenty of action sports.
